Rio-Rescue StoryWhen Rio was found lying on the hot pavement in someone’s driveway, she was extremely thin and every bone in her body was visible. The Arizona Humane Society's Emergency Animal Medical Technicians had to carry her to the ambulance because Rio didn’t have enough strength to stand, let alone walk. At the shelter, blood tests showed that she was severely anemic so supplements were administered and she was placed on a rigid feeding schedule.   Rio afterAfter a month in a foster home, Rio went from 30 to 50 pounds! She was quickly adopted and now enjoys a home with other pets and kids and will  “sing” a howling tune when she is happy. Even though this poor girl had been neglected and so mistreated, she still has so much love to give!   In recognition of National Pit Bull Awareness Month in October, we're celebrating the loving Pit Bull breed and amazing pets like Rio with a very special Pittie-palooza, courtesy of Fix.Adopt.Save!   fix-adopt-save-logo   When: Saturday, October 18, 2014 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.   Where: Phoenix Metrocenter Mall - West Entrance 9617 North Metro Pkwy Phoenix, AZ 85051   What: Get a spay/neuter voucher* and amazing adoption and pet service discounts   $20 Pit Bull and Pit Bull Mix Adoptions $15 Vaccinations $20 Microchipping   Download Flyer   *Spay/Neuter vouchers available while supplies last.
