polkadotIn March, our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ were called to pick up an elderly, stray Greyhound named Polkadot from a local Emergency Animal Clinic. Upon her arrival at our Second Chance Animal Hospital™, we discovered that Polkadot had a microchip, and our Alternative Placement team went to work trying to track down Polkadot’s owner.   Our determined team was eventually able to locate Polkadot’s owner, Tom, who was in shock that his beloved 14-year-old pet was still alive. After going through the emotional experience of thinking his pet was deceased, Tom was filled with excitement and immediately rushed down to AHS to reunite with his loving pet.   Polkadot’s story reminds us of the importance of microchipping your pet. According to homeagain.com One in three pets will become lost at some point during their life. Without proper ID, 90 percent will never return home. Yet, studies show that by microchipping your pet, you can greatly increase your chances of seeing your furry friend again   In recognition of National Pet ID Week April 19-26, AHS wants to help ensure more successful reunions just like Polkadot’s by making pet microchipping more affordable than ever. During the month of April, we are offering $20 microchips with any appointment, surgery or at our free walk-in clinics. That’s a savings of more than 40 percent off our normal price!   Read more to find out about the benefits of microchipping your pet.
