AHS' Veterinary Clinics are Offering 10% Off Blood Work for Cats and Dogs During the Month of July.

Problems such as heartworm, liver, or kidney disease can only be diagnosed by performing blood work. As pets age much faster then their human counterparts, performing a blood screen is a great way to detect disease, even if pets seem otherwise healthy. Blood work conducted at AHS' Veterinary Clinics starts at $30 and results are seen within 24 hours. We are able to test for heartworm, feline leukemia/immunodeficiency virus (FeLV/FIV), kidney & liver function and glucose (diabetes). Our tests also evaluate red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, which can be vital for those considering surgery for their pet.
  • Pets under 5 years of age: We suggest requesting a blood screen every two years.
  • Pets over 5 years of age: We suggest requesting blood work more frequently. Please check with your veterinarian on how often as this is strongly dependent upon a pet's breed.
Contrary to popular belief, there is not currently a blood test that can tell if a pet has cancer. However, we rely on the information obtained from various blood screens to point us in the direction of the problematic areas of the body.
