fix-pet-flyer-thumbnailThe Arizona Humane Society is teaming up with ABC-15, PetSmart Charities and our Fix.Adopt.Save partners to help keep pets healthy and combat pet overpopulation with free spay/neuter surgeries during ABC-15 PetSmart Charities™ Fix Your Pet Weekend August 15th and 16th.   Get your dog or cat spayed or neutered for FREE at one of four locations across the Valley, including AHS’ Margaret McAllister Brock Veterinary Clinic at the Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion and our Marge Wright Veterinary Clinic at the Sunnyslope Campus. Free vaccinations will also be provided for anyone whose pet has surgery. Check in will be on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 6 a.m. and space is limited.   Spaying/neutering is the most effective way to combat the extreme pet overpopulation crisis in Maricopa County, which ranks second only to Los Angeles County.   For pet parents who may be hesitant to get their dogs fixed, it’s important to note that the American Veterinary Medical Association endorses spaying and neutering puppies as young as eight to 10 weeks old. Research shows that the procedure may improve the behavior and health of the pet, including reducing the risk of certain reproductive cancers and infections.
