spay-neuterEvery year, Valley shelters take in close to 90,000 animals, and sadly, only half find their forever homes. Spaying and neutering is the most effective way to reduce the number of homeless pets in our community. In our commitment to fighting pet overpopulation, the Arizona Humane Society is not only celebrating World Spay Day on February 25th, but is offering a variety of free and low-cost spay/neuter events throughout the entire month.   World Spay Day Kickoff We’re kicking things off on February 3rd at Tempe Marketplace in the District Plaza, where we will hand out 500 free spay/neuter vouchers courtesy of our Circle of Friends (while supplies last)! Adorable adoptable pets will also be on hand looking for their forever homes.   Spay Up All Night On February 12th, in a Valley first, we’re Spaying Up All Night in our commitment to spay and neuter 121 owned and shelter animals in one day at our Sunnyslope Campus! We’ll have two check-in times for free surgeries, beginning at 6 a.m. for morning surgeries and 6 p.m. for evening surgeries. Bring your pet before work or swing by once you get home! Space is limited and surgeries are performed on a first-come, first-serve basis, so arrive early!   Daryl Weil’s World Spay Day Event Special friends of AHS, Chip and Daryl Weil, have generously underwritten 60 free spay/neuter surgeries on February 25th at both our Sunnyslope Campus and Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion. Check-in begins at 6 a.m. at both locations, so line up early. Space is limited and surgeries are performed on a first-come, first-serve basis.   Can’t make one of these special events? Our mobile clinic will be out twice in March offering free services and we’ll also have $20 female cat spay surgeries thanks to PetSmart Charities’ Beat the Heat campaign throughout February.   For more information on all of our upcoming events, visit azhumane.org/spayneuter.   Are your pets already spayed/neutered? You can still combat pet overpopulation by helping to sponsor the spay/neuter surgery of an animal waiting for its forever home in our shelter. Spay it forward and help save lives!   Join us in the fight to end pet overpopulation. Spay or neuter your pet today!
