It was just after the New Year, when our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ found Phoebe lying in the middle of a road, lifeless, desperate for help.
The 6-month-old Wheaton Terrier had been hit by a car. One of her legs was completely crushed, two more were severely injured and much of the skin on her back had been torn off after being dragged down the road.
Phoebe was transferred to our Second Chance Animal Hospital™, where our medical team rushed to her aid. She would need 90 staples and surgery to repair her back, and sadly, her shattered leg would require amputation.
But Phoebe survived, and spent several weeks recovering in one of our foster hero homes, where she received plenty of care, love and belly rubs as she prepared for her special adoption day. Ealier this week, Phoebe found a new forever home with a loving familiy in Chandler.
Every year, thousands of dogs and cats just like Phoebe are given a second chance at life thanks to AHS’ EAMTs, Second Chance Animal Hospital and lifesaving programs. And in celebration of Valentine’s Day, one of our most compassionate supporters wants to help show the love to twice as many animals just like Phoebe. Through February 15th
all donations up to $25,000 are being matched through a gift made possible by The Gibney Family in loving memory of Laura J. Gibney, a true animal lover and advocate.
